I have been asked about what the weather can be like in the summer. earlier this year, I could not give an answer as I did not have any background data for this. However, I have now found some data that can be seen in the diagrams below.
It is said that in general, August can be the best month in Norway. This summer has been terrible for the part around Oslo as we have been under influence by a steady low pressure situated in Sweden.
When looking at what we in Norway call ?stlandet (a circle around Oslo with a radius of 150 - 300 km), it can be found that August in the years 1985 - 1985 had rain in more than 20 days and only around 10 days with temperature above 20C.. In the 90s, August was much better, especially in 1995, 1996 and 1997 as well as 1999
The diagrams below shows the weather in three different parts of Norway over the years 1980 - 2000. Troms? is in the very far north of Norway, V?rnes is the airport just outside Trondheim ("middle" of Norway) and Bergen is in the western part of Norway
As the data shown below was given at the end of July 2000, data is not shown for August this year.
